Welcome to our little world in Krailling!
Hello and welcome to our website! My name is Mišo. Together with my wife Vanesa (yes, with an “s” 😄), son Vid, and our beloved dog Bisou, affectionately known as “Queen B,” we live in the idyllic town of Krailling near Munich.
A childhood with dogs and the discovery of the Basenji
My dog adventure actually began much earlier. Even as a child in Croatia, surrounded by many loyal four-legged friends and growing up with different dogs – including Terrier mixes, a Rottweiler, and a Šarplaninac – I knew our next dog should be something special. By the end of 2019, the desire became concrete, and my online research led me to the Basenji breed. The Basenji drew me in, not only because of memories of my first dog “Benny,” but also because of the unique characteristics of this breed. At times, I thought much of what I read online about Basenjis was really true. In some situations, it even seemed much worse! They are like a mix of dog, cat, and child – all in one small, wild creature.
In short, I would describe them as little gremlins.
A heart for African dog breeds
Well, in parallel, my parents had firmly decided to devote their hearts to a Rhodesian Ridgeback. So it was settled: our future belonged to two impressive African dog breeds. But until Bisou enriched our lives, it was a long journey. The biggest challenge? Convincing my dear Vanesa to agree to a Basenji – especially since initially I only showed her pictures of imposing males!
After I showed Vanesa the first photo of a stately male, she responded horrified, “Too muscular! They look like fighting dogs!” A comment she can now only chuckle about.
The Meeting
A very special moment was our meeting with Sabine and Andreas, as well as the five Msumaris girls and two Msumaris boys from Geli & Peter in July 2020. Not only did the girls capture our hearts, but it also became clear to us that a lady should definitely move in with us. From that sunny day at the racetrack in Mertingen onwards, we were smitten. Today I say it should have been this way, although I wished for something different back then. Although the meeting was beautiful and unforgettable, fate led us to Croatia. And there, almost magically, a video of little Bisou captured our hearts.
Our Journey with Bisou
On February 23, 2022, our “Gotcha Day,” she became a permanent part of our family. It’s impressive to see how a dog can change life. With Bisou, many things changed – from the many new friends we’ve made through her, to the small everyday moments that became even more special because of her presence. It also opened a new door for new hobbies. So, we visit the racetrack with her on every occasion and are not afraid to visit new cities while participating in a dog show. All of this, of course, always in the company of good friends and a cool drink or a nice dinner. For daily insights into our adventures with Bisou and her Ridgeback sister Nela, feel free to follow us on our Instagram Stories.
The Beginning of a Special Friendship
Bisou & Vid, a duo whose chapter is just beginning to unfold. Vid is only two months old, and it’s already clear that Bisou has a great fondness for him. She loves being near him, cuddling him, and – even more so – showering him with affectionate licks. It’s the start of their shared story, and although I can’t say much about it yet, we’re excited about the journey ahead. For us, it means a new responsibility that we’re truly looking forward to.
